The Garese Colonial Kingdom of Ékipil (Éki-garese: Keth Ékipilsa Firivó Garó /kɛθ ɛkʏ-pjʏl-sæ fyrjy-βɔː ɣærɔː/) is an absolute monarchy located in the Bavaro Bello region on the Draco Mixor continent on the planet White Giant. It's capital Kaóv Víŧenu (also known as Cavewood in English) is situated in the far west side of the country. The population of Ékipil is 13.2 millions. It was colonize by the garese people in 2995 and became independent in 3050 (though with some attachments). Until the garese colonization, the land had been laid barren by the former people, the country of Exiplion (Ékipil is the garese form of this name). Today, 37% of the population can claim decendance from these people.
The name Ékipil is the gareseination of the name of the people and country who was in the area before the garese colonizers, Exiplion. Another variant was Ékispilion, mostly used in the south-east parts. In those areas the name has survived as Ékispíli, but not nationally nor regianally official.
The name of the capital city, Kaóv Víŧenu, is an Garese translation of the former name: Cavewood. In garese it is made to mean "forest of the two caves".
The language of Ékipil, Éki-garese, is derived from the coastal dialect of Šiz-garese in Li-Dar, the country of the garese. It's mainly the phonology which has changes, but there's also some ortographical changes. The greatest difference is that Éki-garese has added palatalization to most unstressed vowels, é is only palatized at the end of words.
The first colonizers who came to Ékipil spoke the Šiz dialect, in which Éki-garese is based. After 20 years the Šiz-garese dominated with 86%, Dim-garese made up 13% and 1% other languages. At that point the vowels had already started shifting, the unstressed /ɛ/ became /ɪ/ and unstressed /u/ became /œ/. The palatalization came about 15-45 years later. The language as we see today was formed at the Ékipil Royal Language Collection Counsil's meeting in Kaóv Víŧenu in 3095, where, among others, the "common language" activist Kinpi Kontari and conservative garese spokesman Hirtal Pe Beli attended.
The country is divided in tree dialectal areas: Northern, Central (standard Éki-garese) and Southern. About half of the population (6.9 millions) lives in the central area and therefore speak the central dialect. The northern is the second populous with 3.98 millions, and southern is the least with 2.32 millions.
